Ibiza turns from dance to rock
25 April 2008
The Balearic island of Ibiza is best known for its associations with dance music and nightclubbing, but this summer it will be serving the broader interests of its visitors at the Ibiza Rocks festival.
A host of new and exciting bands will provide a feast of musical entertainment throughout the summer months, starting with The Enemy on 31 May.
The three-piece, whose album We'll Live and Die in These Towns achieved platinum status last year, will perform at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in San Antonio.
Leeds-based group The Pigeon Detectives will take over the baton on 17 June, with a show at a yet-to-be-revealed location.
The Wombats, the Fratellis and We Are Scientists will be the groups providing the musical entertainment in July, before Reverend and the Makers and Soulwax provide the soundtrack for the peak month of August.
Ibiza Rocks will come to a triumphant end on 9 September, with a show by boundary-crossing Australian dance collective Pendulum.
