Etihad to carry rockers to Abu Dhabi
30 April 2008
Etihad Airways will be playing host to rock royalty next month when it flies Bon Jovi to Abu Dhabi.
The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will transport the band to the capital for the only Middle Eastern concert on their forthcoming world tour.
Bon Jovi will be carried to the UAE from New York, where they are currently finishing off the US leg of their Lost Highway tour.
Etihad will also be the official sponsor for the gig which will take place in the grounds of Emirates Palace on 20 May in front of 20,000 fans.
Peter Baumgartner, the airline's executive vice-president of marketing, said: 'As the national airline of the UAE, Etihad Airways is very excited to play a lead part in bringing one of the world's best selling and most popular live performers to Abu Dhabi.
'Etihad Airways will do everything it can to make sure Bon Jovi enjoys a flying start to their Middle East tour by welcoming the band onboard the Middle East's leading airline.'
In December 2007, Emirates Palace played host to the hugely successful pop star Justin Timberlake.
