US Airways celebrates punctuality rating
07 May 2008
US Airways has celebrated being named the most punctual of America's ten largest carriers in March.
The airline said it was the third time in four months that the department of transportation figures had ranked it above any other major operators in the US.
US Airways achieved an on-time arrival rate of 79.1% in the third month of the year, contributing to an overall punctuality rate of 78.3% for the first quarter of 2008.
Scott Kirby, president of US Airways, said the figures were a validation of the 'operational turnaround' that the airline is implementing.
He added: 'Our 36,000 employees are working together as one airline to deliver best-in-class reliability for our customers.
'We look forward to the challenge of continuing to lead the industry in on-time performance and to also deliver better performance in the other areas that our customers value.'
US Airways is America's fifth largest domestic airline group, operating approximately 3,500 flights every day.
