Finnair launches new Russia connection
09 May 2008
Finnair has announced that it will begin a new flight from Helsinki to the Russian city of Yekaterinburg this year.
The carrier will serve the destination, which is in the Ural region of Russia, from the Finnish capital as of September.
Three flights a week will be available on the connection, which will have a journey time of just three hours.
'The flight time from Helsinki to Yekaterinburg is half that of any other connection via Western Europe,' said Finnair's sales director in Russia, Vesa Vilkkula.
'There are fast connections in both directions to about 40 Europe destinations and especially to Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo.'
The sales director said that the route also serves Finnair's long-haul connections to North America and Asia.
Yekaterinburg, which lies in the heart of the Ural region, also provides links to Siberia that adventurous travellers may make use of.
