Two more oneworld carriers based in Milan
15 May 2008

The oneworld airline alliance has recently boosted its presence in Milan with the launch of new services from two of its members.

Malev Hungarian Airlines was the first to commence new flights from Milan Malpensa at the end of April, followed shortly by American Airlines (AA) on 1 May.

The developments brought the total number of oneworld carriers operating from the north Italian airport to seven, with British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines and Royal Jordanian already based at Malpensa.

American Airlines, which claims to be the world's largest carrier, is currently offering a daily non-stop flight between Milan and its New York JFK base.

Travellers using this service can access connections to AA's network via JFK, where the airline has recently opened a new state-of-the-art, $1.3bn (£667m) terminal.

Malev's service carries passengers from Milan to Budapest on a twice-daily basis, offering access to the airline's portfolio of flights throughout central and eastern Europe.

Oneworld comprises ten airlines in total, which provide flights to nearly 700 destinations in some 150 countries.
