Glasgow delves into cultural diversity
15 May 2008
Glasgow will offer its visitors a broad spectrum of cultural entertainment at two festivals taking place over the coming months.
The first event on offer in the Scottish city is the West End festival, which is designed to ensure that this part of the city lives up to its reputation as an artistic hub.
Billed as a street party with a difference, the festival features music, parades, comedy shows, art exhibitions, theatre, film, dance and more, starting on 13 June and coming to an end on 29 June.
Last year, a total of 358 events comprised the West End festival, leading to ticket sales of more than 39,000, and this year's outing is expected to be even bigger.
Visitors who would like to dedicate their attention solely to music may be interested in heading to Glasgow for the International Jazz Festival, which will run from 20 to 29 June.
This event is now in its 21st year and offers an eclectic main programme of shows, accompanied by a number of fringe events taking place in various locations in Glasgow.
