Swiss introduces new business-class seats
23 May 2008
Swiss Airlines has introduced a new business-class seat design which it claims uses a 'mould-breaking' new concept.
The new seats will be installed on the airline's intercontinental business cabins from spring 2009.
Capable of fully reclining and measuring two metres in length, the new seats will provide long-haul passengers with 'a bed above the clouds', according to Swiss Airlines.
Another feature of the new concept is an air cushion facility that allows seat hardness to be set to suit individual requirements.
Other extras will include an integrated massage function, USB and iPod sockets and a 16:9 format inflight entertainment screen.
Christoph Franz, Swiss chief executive, said: 'We are extremely proud to have helped develop this global seating innovation, together with several hundred of our customers.
'And we are particularly delighted to be the first airline in the world to offer these substantially enhanced levels of on-board seating and sleeping comfort.'
Swiss recently announced that it will introduce a range of new catering options on its first- and business-class flights this summer.
