Visitors to Britain 'return again and again'
23 May 2008
Britain exerts an appeal over foreign visitors that sees tourists regularly returning to the country, a tourism spokesperson has claimed.
Sian Brenchley of VisitBritain made her comments after the publication of a Rough Guides book that said that residents of the UK are 'insular, self-important and irritating'.
On the bright side, the book said that Britain is also 'fascinating, beautiful and culturally diverse'.
Ms Brenchley said the comments in the guide, which was authored by British writers, are 'very much tongue-in-cheek' and demonstrative of Britain's quirky sense of humour.
She added: 'The millions of tourists who holiday here return again and again because of the wide range of appeals that England and Britain can offer holidaymakers.
'From history and heritage and culture, classic seaside resorts to dynamic city break destinations, England is a great place for both domestic and international visitors to holiday.'
Opodo cheap flights, hotels and car hire - let the journey begin!
