Schedule set at Heathrow's T5
29 May 2008
BA has announced it will move the rest of its long-distance flights to Heathrow's Terminal 5 in September and October, according to reports.
Around 30 daily departures will be transferred to Terminal 5 on 17 September followed by a further 15 by the end of October.
Originally, the airline had planned to move most of its long-haul flights to the terminal by late April but the chaotic opening of Terminal 5 meant that plans had to be postponed.
BAA, the owner of Terminal 5 has reported a £51 million operating loss for the opening quarter of 2008, thanks to the terminal's troubled opening and increased security costs.
BAA chief executive Colin Matthews said: 'Profits were clearly affected by higher security and maintenance costs, reflecting the importance we place on delivering a safe and convenient service to passengers, through higher standards and better facilities.'
Terminal 5 hit the headlines after a disastrous start in March which saw BA lose thousands of passengers' baggage and cancel a large majority of its flights.
