SAS to launch new Alpine services
23 June 2008

SAS Scandinavian Airlines has unveiled plans to launch direct routes from Oslo in Norway to the Austrian destinations of Innsbruck and Salzburg.

The carrier announced that its direct route from the Norwegian capital to Salzburg will depart every Wednesday to Saturday from 3 December to 28 March.

Salzburg will see two weekly SAS flights from Norway, on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 26 December until 27 March.

Thomas Midteide, the airline's vice-president of communications in Norway, said the new services will make it easier for keen skiers to access 'the best slopes in the Alps'.

He also pointed out that two class options will be available on both routes – economy and economy extra.

The economy extra option provides additional benefits such as more leg-room, free food on board and fast-track channels at some airports for quicker passage through security control.

Innsbruck is one of Austria's top skiing destinations and is the largest city in the Tirol province, while Salzburg is popular with people on cultural holidays as it was the birthplace of Mozart.
