Terminal development underway at Aberdeen
07 July 2008
A project was launched at Aberdeen airport today (7 July) that is set to improve security and passenger access at the Scottish hub.
Airport operator BAA invested £2m in the development, which will include a new drop-off area for passengers and dedicated access lanes for taxis and service buses.
Temporary concrete blocks on the forecourt will be replaced by permanent bollards, while pedestrianisation of the area will improve ease of access for the public.
There is also an environmental aspect to the project, with existing lighting being replaced by low-energy LED fittings.
Will Dougherty, customer services director at Aberdeen airport, said: 'I am confident that when this work is complete the forecourt will meet the needs of our passengers and represent a significant improvement on the existing arrangements, improving the end-to-end experience of key stakeholders and passengers alike.'
Aberdeen airport hosts flights from carriers including Flybe, British Airways and Eastern Airways to destinations such as Malaga, Copenhagen, Dublin and Paris.
