Air New Zealand moves to Heathrow T1
08 July 2008

Air New Zealand has completed its move from Terminal 3 at London Heathrow airport to Terminal 1, according to reports.

As a result of the shift, which took place on 4 July, the airline will have a single check-in location at Terminal 1 for the first time since it launched a second daily London flight in October 2006, TravelMole reports.

The move had originally been scheduled to take place on 10 June but was postponed to ensure that minimum disruption would be caused to passengers.

According to Scott Carr, Air New Zealand's European general manager, the shift was carried out successfully and there was no inconvenience for the public.

Mr Carr added: 'Our new home at T1 is an exciting move for us, and will enable our passengers to benefit from the transformations already underway in the terminal, including a simple, easy to use check-in which will reduce congestion and create quicker processing times, a refreshed arrivals area and immigration hall, and upgraded baggage system.'

The move was part of an initiative by the Star Alliance network to have all of its carriers based at one location at Heathrow by 2012.

Air New Zealand flies from London Heathrow to destinations including Auckland, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
