BA connects to iPhone
11 July 2008
British Airways (BA) has launched a platform to facilitate bookings using the new Apple iPhone 3G.
The airline claims that it is the first carrier to enable reservations through the new device, which is the second version of the iPhone.
As well as making bookings, customers will be able to view real-time arrival and departure information and see details of the BA timetable.
The platform was designed by the airline's technological experts after Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced in May that the iPhone 3G would offer seamless integration with other companies' applications.
Paul Coby, BA's chief information officer, said: 'The iPhone is revolutionising mobile communications and allows us to provide instant access to arrivals and departures information which will enhance the experience of travelling with BA.
'We're always seeking to improve the service our customers enjoy by the smart use of innovative technology and the iPhone is a fantastic way to achieve this.'
The iPhone 3G was launched on 11 July and supports faster data speeds than its predecessor as well as a new satellite positioning system.
