Survey underlines importance of mobile travel
15 July 2008
A new survey has indicated the important part that mobile technology is set to play in the corporate travel industry in the future, with security one of the major benefits of the proliferation of mobile devices.
Amadeus and the Association of Corporate Travel Executives polled travel managers and security experts around the world for the Upwardly Mobile report.
All respondents said that tracking and communication with business travellers was a major benefit of mobile technology.
The majority (98%) said that the ability to provide timely security alerts in the event of a crisis is useful, while 88% appreciated the potential for travellers to change their reservations while on the road.
Peter Smith of Amadeus Asia Pacific said: 'This survey demonstrates that the corporate community are increasingly recognising the benefits of mobile technology in terms of productivity, flexibility and employee welfare.
'These findings are particularly relevant for the Asia Pacific region, where we observe a high rate of adoption for new technology and mobile devices.'
Mobile technology is expected to revolutionise the way that business customers travel, allowing them to check flight times, make hotel reservations and carry out administrative tasks while on the move.
