Hong Kong tourism hopes for movie boost
16 July 2008

The Hong Kong tourism industry is expecting to see the benefit of public interest in a number of major movies this summer.

One of the biggest films of this year is The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as The Joker, some of which was filmed in Hong Kong.

The caped crusader leaps off the roof of the International Finance Centre, which overlooks Victoria Harbour, in one of the scenes, while other shooting locations included Queen's Road and the Peninsula Hotel.

One of the highlights of this year's summer events at Hong Kong Ocean Park will be the opening of an attraction based on the new DreamWorks animated film Kung Fu Panda.

The new feature at Ocean Park, which is one of the only theme parks in the world that is home to four giant pandas, will bring to life a number of scenes and characters that appear in the movie.

Visitors to Hong Kong Disneyland this year will be able to experience the park's version of the boat ride It's A Small World, which features 38 classic Disney characters and 241 moving and talking figures representing different countries.
