Stansted underlines safety restrictions
22 July 2008
As it prepares for the summer holiday rush, Stansted airport has advised passengers to be fully aware of security restrictions to ensure that their trip gets off to a smooth start.
Spain, France, Turkey and Italy will be among the most popular destinations from Stansted this summer, with more than 80,000 passengers expected to travel from the airport on the busiest days of the season.
Travellers should ensure that there are no sharp items, such as knives or scissors, in their hand luggage, and liquids must be carried in containers of less than 100ml and presented in clear, re-sealable plastic bags.
The most advisable approach, according to Stansted terminal head Nick Cole, is for passengers to arrive at least two hours before their flight is due to depart and keep hand luggage to a minimum.
Mr Cole added: 'We ask all our passengers to take a few minutes to familiarise themselves with the security measures.
'This will save them time at the airport and should ensure they get their holiday off to a flying start.'
Stansted is the UK's third busiest airport, with traffic of more than 23m passengers per year.
