Delta plans new Caribbean service
25 July 2008

Travellers will be offered more access to the Caribbean this winter with a new flight provided by Delta Airlines.

Subject to foreign government approval, the carrier will launch a non-stop service from John F Kennedy airport in New York to the island of Bonaire from 20 December.

Bonaire is one of the Dutch Caribbean islands off the coast of Venezuela and is known as a popular destination for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Delta's connection to the island will complement its existing flight there from Atlanta.

Christophe Didier, Delta's vice-president of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean, said: 'The Caribbean is a big part of our international expansion strategy as we add service and increase frequencies to popular beach destinations during the winter months.

'Delta makes it easy for customers in New York and the Northeast region to enjoy Bonaire's sunny weather and crystal-clear waters, and it's all one convenient non-stop flight away.'

The airline will launch flights to a number of destinations in the Americas this winter, including Buenos Aires, Argentina; Tegucigalpa, Honduras; and Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic.
