Flybe 'investing in business passengers'
28 July 2008
Regional airline Flybe is bucking the trend of cutbacks in airline services by investing in improvements for its business passengers, according to reports.
The company, which is thought to be Europe's largest regional airline, has spent some £2m over the last year on developments to attract commercial travellers.
These have included technology enhancements, improved ground services and a loyalty reward scheme, Business Traveller magazine reports.
Flybe has also opened eight new lounges for its premium economy passengers over the last year, which offer amenities such as free internet access and refreshments.
Simon Lilley, the airline's director of marketing, said: 'Companies know that, when we encounter difficult times, it is not always about stopping travel. It's more about being smart with travel choices and continuing to get out there to find new business.'
He added: 'Business travellers who still want some of the perks but who can't afford to fly British Airways and Lufthansa choose us.'
Flybe operates from a number of UK gateways, including London Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, and flies to destinations such as Paris, Milan, Palma, Amsterdam and Dubrovnik.
