I live for my holiday, says 17% of Brits
08 August 2008
Nearly 20 per cent of British people admit they 'live' for their holidays, according to a private bank.
Cater Allen research found that 17% of us survive purely for our summer break, while 21% start planning the next holiday weeks after returning from the last.
And it seems that juggling work, family and the increased cost of living is also taking its toll, with 43 per cent of Brits admitting they need a holiday to maintain their mental wellbeing.
Richard Dunn, managing director at Cater Allen, said: 'The two week summer break has become an essential respite for hard working Britons.
'But the rising cost of living and the higher price of fuel for flights means that this summer we may have to pay that little bit more for our much need rest and rehabilitation time.'
The survey showed we splash an average of £1,650 on holidays every year.
Opting to travel to non-European countries could save travellers money this summer as the pound is currently weak against the euro.
Opodo cheap flights, hotels and car hire - let the journey begin!
