Lonely Planet praises New Zealand's greenery
18 August 2008

A newly released guidebook from Lonely Planet has praised New Zealand for its natural beauty.

Furthermore, the guide book has sent out a message to the country urging it to retain its greenery.

Among the many virtues of New Zealand commended in the guide are its scenery, festivals - described as 'fabulous' as well as its food and wine.

'There are few countries on this lonely planet as diverse, unspoiled and utterly, utterly photogenic,' the guide book enthuses.

The Sydney Morning Herald wrote earlier this year of how New Zealand's tourism had been boosted by the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy which was famously shot on the islands.

Last month, Martin Evans of The Tourism Business said that destinations such as New Zealand stood to gain more exposure overseas through films like Lord of the Rings than through 'any normal advertising or PR'.
