Corsica: Home of unusual traditions
19 August 2008

Corsica is an intruiging holiday destination in terms of its music, "unusual" traditions and festivals, it has been reported.

Lucy White, editor of the Rough Guide to Corsica, noted that such festivals take place throughout Corsica, with the magical corses polyphonies a noted event.

"A particularly Corsican tradition is displayed in their music - polyphony. Festivals and events often feature this unusual music. Bastia is home to lots of events - including film festivals, firework displays and religious festivals," Ms White commented.

Corsica, according to French-property.com, is a major tourist region in France, with its seafront beauty a major draw for visitors, in addition to its Italian-influenced history and culture.

Ms White added that unexplained figures on the landscape known as menhirs are a fascinating and unusual trait of Corsica.

The menhirs, located around Filitosa, are part of the allure of Corsica as a romantic holiday destination.
