Tourism New Zealand launches major UK campaign
22 August 2008

Tourism New Zealand has announced that it is ready to launch its largest ever advertising campaign in the UK.

The initiative will comprise eight 40-second television commercials, which will hit screens on 7 September, and some online activity.

Featuring the tagline 'What do you say UK?', the promotional drive will show British travellers visiting New Zealand's main tourist destinations and speaking about their experiences.

George Hickton, chief executive of Tourism New Zealand, said the campaign is hoped to turn a visit to the island nation into an achievable prospect for British people.

'While the 100% Pure New Zealand campaign has helped New Zealand stay a very aspirational holiday for the British, the new campaign will give consumers a reason to come now,' he said.

With more than 290,000 visitor arrivals in the year to June 2008, the UK is New Zealand's second largest tourist market.

Flights to major cities such as Wellington and Auckland are available with carriers including Air New Zealand and Qantas.
