Fliers in favour of 'child-free flights'

Most aircraft passengers would be in favour of a system that separated families with young children from other travellers, a new survey has found.
Loud and hyperactive youngsters appear to irk the vast majority of regular fliers, with 85% of the 10,000 people polled by consumer group airfarewatchdog.com saying it would be a good idea to segregate those travelling with children.
According to James Freemantle, a spokesman for the Air Transport Users Council, there is 'no reason' why such a system could not be introduced.
Mr Freemantle told the Telegraph: 'Many airlines already use systems where passengers pick their own seating, so asking those travelling with children to sit in a certain section of the plane is entirely up to the airline.'
An initiative using separate cabins could create other problems, he warned, relating to issues such as the amount of time it takes to seat passengers.
Travellers' intolerance of their co-passengers does not appear to stop at noisy children, with more than four in five of the people surveyed saying that overweight people should be required to buy an extra seat.
