Phelps chooses Portugal for post-Olympic holiday

Swimming star Michael Phelps chose the Algarve as the destination for a relaxing holiday following his historic achievements at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Phelps won eight gold medals in Beijing, becoming the most successful Olympian in history.
When his sporting exploits came to an end, the American star visited the Algarve in Portugal for several days owing to its relaxing atmosphere and friendly people, according to the Portuguese National Tourist Office.
This year's Allgarve 08 season of concerts and events has attracted a number of celebrities to the south of Portugal, including French actress Catherine Deneuve and Hollywood star Tim Robbins.
The highlights of Allgarve 08 have included concerts by Lou Reed, Simply Red and Diana Krall.
A number of major sporting events are yet to take place before the programme is over, including the Portugal Sailing Trophy, the Portimao Windsurfing World Championship and the Superbike Grand Prix.
