La Liga 2008-09 prepares for kick off
28 August 2008

People taking holidays in Spain between the end of this month and May next year will have no shortage of sporting events to keep them entertained as the La Liga 2008-09 season gets underway.

There are top sides located all around Spain in the country's most popular holiday regions, including Malaga on the Costa del Sol, Espanyol and Barcelona in Catalonia and Mallorca in the Balearic islands.

A number of teams will this year be looking to make up for a disappointing 2007-08 season, including Barcelona and Valencia, while Real Madrid will hope to continue the strong form that saw them crowned champions.

The campaign will begin on 31 August with fixtures including Deportivo versus Real Madrid and Espanyol up against Valladolid.

Sports fans interested to see how Barcelona get on this year will be able to see the Catalan giants in home fixtures against Atletico Madrid (5 October) and Valladolid (9 November).

December will be a crunch month for Barca, as they will play Valencia at the Nou Camp on the 7th followed by Real Madrid on the 14th.
