New system brings 'multilingual benefits' to Luton
01 September 2008
London Luton airport has celebrated the effectiveness of its new multilingual passenger communication system.
The Aviavox system can make announcements in nine different languages and provide messages relevant to flights owing to its connection with the airport departure schedule.
Announcements are made in languages relevant to passengers on particular flights and the languages used vary in different parts of the airport.
One of the main benefits of the system has been to make important security announcements which help to expedite passengers' movement through the airport.
Glyn Jones, Luton airport's managing director, said: 'Our customers are at the heart of everything we do.
'London Luton airport continually assesses the needs of its passengers and business partners and aims to provide the best possible service to them. The introduction of this fantastic new system for our passengers demonstrates our commitment to this.'
Luton airport, which now handles more than 10m passengers a year, hosts flights from airlines including Flybe and Aer Arann to destinations such as Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam.
