California park wins children's award for fifth time

Legoland California has been voted the best children's park at an industry awards event for the fifth year in a row.
Amusement Today, a monthly trade newspaper, hosted its Golden Ticket awards last week and presented the prize to Legoland California at a ceremony in Kissimmee, Florida.
The Golden Ticket awards were introduced in 1998 and are now among the most sought-after accolades in the amusement park industry.
John Jakobsen, general manager of Legoland California, said it was a 'great honour' to receive the best children's park award for the fifth year in a row.
He added: 'We are constantly striving to make Legoland California an incredible adventure for families with children two to 12 years old.
'This year we created a completely new interactive musical show and introduced three rides in the new Land of Adventure in March, which means we have more than doubled the amount of rides since we opened in 1999.'
Next year Legoland California will celebrate its ten-year anniversary and the park will mark the occasion by hosting the 2009 Golden Ticket awards.
In August this year, North America's first Sea Life Aquarium geared specifically to educate children on the creatures of the sea opened as a separate admission adjacent to Legoland California.
