12 September 2008
Fans of Al Green will have the opportunity to combine one of the soul legend's gigs with a holiday this year as he embarks on an international tour.
Green got his tour underway this month in the United States and will play a number of venues in California as well as a show in the Virgin Islands before heading for Europe.
Barcelona will be the first stop on his European tour on 24 October, followed by gigs in Dublin (26 and 27 October), Glasgow (30 October), Amsterdam (31 October), Murcia (1 November), Stockholm (8 November) and others.
The soul star will then head back to the United States for five more shows in November.
Green achieved the height of his fame in the 1970s but has shot back into the limelight this year with the release of his album Lay it Down, which features guest appearances by the likes of John Legend and Corinne Bailey Rae.
His status in the music industry was highlighted in 2004 when he was inducted into the Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame and ranked number 65 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the top 100 artists of all time.
