EMA picks up two awards in a week
18 September 2008
Nottingham East Midlands airport (EMA) has picked up two travel trade awards in the past week, it has announced.
The first accolade was the Travel Trade Gazette's 'airport of the year' award, which EMA picked up ahead of Luton and Birmingham airports.
'Star regional airport' was the second honour that the East Midlands gateway picked up at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards, against competition from Liverpool, Birmingham and Bristol airports.
These awards mark 2008 as another successful year for EMA, after it picked up five industry accolades last year.
Airport managing director Penny Coates said: 'We are delighted to have won two prestigious and highly acclaimed awards in less than a week and see this as a reflection of our hard work and dedication.
'These awards show the confidence, trust and respect our colleagues in the travel industry have for the airport and we are delighted that this has been recognised in a very competitive marketplace.'
Travellers can fly to a number of destinations from EMA, such as Barcelona, Amsterdam and Paris, with airlines including bmi and Eastern Airways.
