More traffic through Orlando airport in August
02 October 2008

There was a significant increase in the flow of international traffic through Orlando international airport in August, it has been announced.

The growth in international traffic during the summer month helped to offset declined in domestic travel through the Florida gateway.

Nearly 3m people passed through Orlando airport in August, representing a 16% increase in international passengers compared to the same month of last year.

During the rolling 12-month period to August this year, the international airport handled nearly 37m passengers, foreign and domestic, which is an increase of 3.6% on the previous year.

The airport could well see its number of international customers increase further next year as tourists take advantage of an offer from the Walt Disney company allowing people to enter its US parks for free on their birthdays.

Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts will also offer events and activities geared to the celebration theme, including street parties and barbecues.
