BA to launch new Caribbean flight
08 October 2008
In a move which it said is indicative of its 'commitment to the Caribbean', British Airways (BA) has announced plans to launch a new flight to St Kitts and Nevis.
The weekly service to the island from London Gatwick will begin on 10 January 2009.
British Airways states that this new flight will strengthen its existing position as the airline offering more services to the Caribbean than any other carrier.
Adam Daniels, head of leisure sales, said: 'This new route to St Kitts underlines our commitment both to the Caribbean and Gatwick and re-establishes a connection between the UK and the island.
'The introduction of St Kitts as a British Airways route means that we now operate to 11 destinations in the Caribbean. The region is performing extremely well for us. Our customers also tell us that they feel secure flying with an airline with an established heritage and longevity in the market in these turbulent times.'
The airline also confirmed spring 2009 plans to boost its service from Heathrow to Dubai from 14 to 20 flights per week and increase its number of weekly services from Heathrow to Johannesburg from 14 to 19 per week.
On 29 March next year, British Airways will move flights to the cities of Atlanta and Toulouse from London Gatwick to Heathrow Terminal 5.
