BBC thriller set to boost Alberta tourism
17 July 2008

The province of Alberta in Canada is looking forward to a tourism boost resulting from a new BBC show being set in the city of Calgary.

Burn Up was written by Simon Beaufoy, the man behind hit British movie The Full Monty, and features stars including Neve Campbell of the Scream movies, Bradley Whitford from The West Wing and Marc Warren from UK show Hustle.

It follows oil executives, green activists and politicians who collide over economic and environmental issues.

Much of the action takes place against the cityscape of Calgary and the location's design and historical significance play an important part in the programme.

Locations used in Burn Up include Stampede Park, Calgary City Hall, the McDougall Centre, the Telus Convention Centre, Stephen Avenue Mall and downtown Calgary.

The two-part thriller will be broadcast on BBC Two on 23 and 25 July at 21:00.
