British Airways passengers treated to basketball show
29 August 2008
British Airways passengers at London Heathrow's Terminal 5 were treated to an impromptu sporting performance today courtesy of members of the British women's Paralympic basketball team.
Helen Turner, Clare Strange, Helen Freeman and Louise Sugden took part in a short game in the terminal prior to their departure for the Paralympic Games in Beijing on 29 August.
Ms Strange said: 'We've played in courts all around the world, but this is the first time we've played at an airport terminal!
'We're thrilled to be representing Great Britain and looking forward to doing our country proud.'
British Airways is the airline partner of the London 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games and has played a part in this year's event, transporting more than 300 athletes and teams to Beijing and bringing home a number of British medallists earlier this week.
The carrier is set to take 18 different teams to the Paralympic Games this year, including groups specialising in judo, wheelchair tennis and cycling.
