Eurostar launches sale on new timetable
03 October 2008

Eurostar has announced the launch of a ticket sale on its new, amended timetable that makes the best use of available capacity through the Channel Tunnel.

The operator is now offering nine trains every weekday between London and Brussels and 16 trains every weekday between London and Paris, compared with ten and 17 services respectively before the fire on 11 September.

This new timetable, which is set to remain in place for a number of months, represents a restoration of 93% of Eurostar's seat capacity before the incident.

Journey times are on average 20 minutes longer than normal owing to the partial closure of one of the two tunnels running beneath the English Channel.

Passengers are advised to check in for their journeys as early as possible, ahead of Eurostar's minimum check-in times, to help station staff ensure that they catch their trains.

There will be a disruption to the operator's attempts to get its services back on track on 6 October, when a general strike in Belgium will mean that there will be no trains between the UK and Brussels throughout the day.
