Delta to offer flat beds on Heathrow flights
13 October 2008
Delta Airlines has announced that its business class customers flying between London Heathrow and the US destinations of New York and Atlanta will soon enjoy the comfort of a 180-degree fully flat bed.
The airline's Boeing 767s flying between the United States and Heathrow will be equipped with the new seats from summer 2009.
It was also announced that Delta customers will be offered a third daily non-stop flight between New York JFK and Heathrow next summer, provided by the airline's joint venture partner Air France.
This new service will complement Delta's existing transatlantic flights and will offer travellers a choice of morning, early evening or late evening departures from New York.
Glen Hauenstein, Delta's executive vice president of network planning, said: 'Delta continues to listen to our customers' requests for enhanced service in the world's major markets and we are pleased to add the consistency of 180-degree full flat beds to all Delta flights operating at the world's no.1 business airport Heathrow.
'The introduction of full-flat service onboard the Delta 767 fleet will enhance our position in the highly competitive US-to-Heathrow market.'
The US airline also provides two routes from London Gatwick a daily flight to Cincinnati and a twice-daily service to Atlanta.
