Liverpool airport looks east for route development
13 October 2008
Liverpool John Lennon airport sent a group of representatives to Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to take part in the 14th World Route Development Forum.
This annual event, which is taking place between 12 and 14 October this year, brings together hundreds of airports and airlines from across the world to discuss opportunities for route development.
As well as promoting Liverpool airport to prospective airlines, the delegates will also highlight the success of the Liverpool region through recent economic regeneration, investment and tourism growth.
The airport is set to take part in some 40 meetings with airlines from across Europe, Asia, the USA and the Middle East.
Robin Tudor, head of PR for the Peel Airports Group, owner of Liverpool airport, said that the event can be described as 'speed dating for airports and airlines'.
'If the airlines like what we have to say in our 20-minute sales pitch, then a relationship can be established that can lead to more business in the future,' he added.
'It is a great opportunity to be able to speak face to face with airlines from all over the world in an extremely cost effective way and get the message to them about all the great things happening in the region and how the airport can help them deliver access for their passengers to and from here.'
